Ellinwood who was Henry Ward Beecher’s private stenographer for approximately 30 years and was the author of several books regarding Beecher’s sermons, public meetings etc. This book covers many topics ranging from “the largest apple tree in the state of New York to . . . pained at seeing the ruin of Charleston to heresy”. Beecher also was credited with having a great deal of influence on his sister’s legendary “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.” 191 pages.
