Perry's Bible Manufactory, 1860. Full brown leather bible with decorations, from the mid-1800's (first entry 1861), complete huge heavy antique edition. Approximately 12" high x 10" wide x 3.5" thick - it truly is a spectacular book. All lays nicely together and truly is one of the very nicest condition Bibles of this era. (pre-Civil War!) Endpages and a few associated pages are separated from binding but all are in place, spine repaired where it had separated from text block, Family section has full framed pages with 32 family photos which appear to be at least 100 years of age! Also, death and birth history section filled in since 1861. Spectacular, vibrant full page black and white engravings with tissue guards, including, "The Last Supper" frontispiece by E. Lachmann; art by R. Westall; engravings done by J.D. Gross; small foxing spots on borders of some. All sides qilded gold, brass clasp missing leather strap. BONUS - includes a number of very old vintage newspaper clipping regarding the Kutzner family, who evidently were the original owners of the bible and one of the founding families in the Philadelphia area!
