: P. F. Volland & Co., Chicago (1919). Twenty-first (printing) Edition. Antiquarian children's picture story book. Great, Vivid pictures! Masterfully written and illustrated by Johnny Gruelle. Cover is color-illustrated, paper-covered boards - some wear and soiling. Beautifully illustrated endpapers. Former owners inscription. Unpaginated. Binding cracked but intact. 9 1/4" x 6 .25. Full color pictorial boards with slight wear to spine; full color pictorial box with light wear to sides but quite nice. Gruelle was a fine artist who especially excelled with woodland creatures and happy children playing within that grand context. This is a great example of his skills beyond his well-known Raggedy Folks.
