Random House, 1996. FIRST EDITION stated, first printing (numberline with "2" per Random House standards.) Excellent, near mint unread condition with original unclipped dust jacket. Best selling novel, an account of the presidential campaign of a governor of a small southern state, the subject of much controversy and the basis of the Mike Nichols movie of the same name starring John Travolta. Went quickly into many later printings, but despite a lot of speculation, the anonymity of the author was preserved for many months. "Primary Colors: A Novel of Politics" a roman à clef about Bill Clinton's first presidential campaign in 1992, originally published here anonymously (it was eventually revealed that the author was journalist Joe Klein, who had covered Clinton's campaign for Newsweek.) Great collectible first edition. 366 pages.
