Private, 1933. FIRST EDITION (one of a kind!) 7 ¾ " x 10" “All Value Compostiion Book” Overall excellent solid condition, few closed tears and dog eared pages, remarkably clean. Baseball Scrapbook evidentally compiled primarily in 1933 (some additions may have been added shortly after this as well.) While there are countless newspaper articles, genuine pro baseball player signatures including 1933 Texas League "DALLAS STEERS" players including - ZEKE BONURA (signed by the WHITE SOX in 1934), George Washington Payne, Al Fisher, E. R. Vangilder, Chas. Barnabe, Flea and Les ? plus several newspaper clippings and cartoons regarding Texas League teams and players as well as some Texas League stats – the gem of this collection are the seven (7) 1933 “Big League Baseball Cards” : Burleigh Grimes, John Welch, Max Bishop, Frank (Lefty) O'Doul, Ted Lyons, George Grantham and the most sought after card of the entire 1933 set - Lou Gehrig rookie card. While the cards are for the most part in spectacularly clean and bright condition, they were each pasted into this scrapbook with hand written notations on the page where each is attached, the bottom edge of each baseball card has also been neatly trimmed, though not compromising player photograph or writing in any manner. (There is writing on the Burleigh Grimes card.) Soft cover is sturdy with faded scribbles, writing, and some smudges – most of which may be able to be easily erased if so desired. A wonderful viontage look at professional baseball and the most cost effective way in which to secure the much heralded rookie card of one of the all time greats of the game!
