While this is the first printing of the 6 book set of 12 volumes, books show the earliest indication of official international editions as this set has their original Great Britain title pages, yet each has a single Lippincott (US publisher) 1856 title page tipped in just after the endpage. Very good condition, dark blue covers with embossed design and bright gilt decoration and titles ot spines, all tight, covers showing minor soiling and general wear, interiors show soiling on the first few pages of one volume, owner's mini name stamp and pencilled volume numbers on end papers, and a few scattered signs of page corner folds, minor foxing, etc., otherwise overall being quite clean, mark free and tight. (Some of the set likely unread, as several pages are still partially connected at the top edge.wear to extremities.)
